Florida Alpha Parliamentarians – Mastering the Rules and Procedures of Voting Workshop

Most likely you’ve heard, “The majority rules,” since grade school. But what does that mean exactly? What effect does an abstention have? Is a two/thirds vote the same as a super majority? Can a member challenge the result of a vote? Knowing the rules and procedures of voting in a meeting will enable you to improve your skills as a leader or a member of any group. This two-hour virtual workshop will take you through the ins and outs of voting:

• Explore what the basis is for calculating votes
• Learn the basis for determining a voting result
• Discuss the important role the presiding officer plays
• Learn the many methods of voting
• Explore solving voting problems
