NAP National Committees

The standing and special committees of the National Association of Parliamentarians carry on a great deal of its work, with responsibilities varying from the organization of conferences and conventions to processing of membership and registration examinations.

Bylaws

The bylaws committee reviews and prepares proposed bylaw changes for each biennial convention, ensuring consistency with other rules and, in consultation with legal counsel, ensuring compliance with applicable laws. The committee also reviews the bylaws of NAP’s constituent divisions.
Chairman: Steven Cook, PRP

Communications

The communications committee develops and manages the association’s marketing plan, ensuring that the products and services that NAP produces reach the organizations and individuals that need them.
Chairman: C.J. Cavin, PRP

Educational Resources

The educational resources committee develops the wide range of educational materials that NAP produces, serving novice and professional parliamentarians, students and teachers, and members of the public who simply need high-quality meeting reference materials.
Chairman: Ruth S. Ryan, PRP

International Services

The International Services Committee researches cultural and language issues affecting membership meetings, training, and the delivery of parliamentary services within international markets. They are also tasked with investigating viable market entry strategies to increase NAP membership abroad. If you would like information on becoming an NAP member, receiving parliamentary procedure training, or if you are able to assist this committee with your specialized cultural knowledge or language skills, please contact the committee’s chairman.
Chairman: Carl Nohr, PRP

Membership Extension and Retention

The membership extension and retention committee, composed of the district directors, promotes the formation and growth of associations, local units, and youth groups, and promotes educational activities, particularly in unchartered regions.

The registration & membership examiners committee develops and maintains the NAP membership examination and registration examination. The committee processes membership exams, membership applications, and registration exams.
