One of the most valuable NAP membership benefits is the opportunity for members to learn in a group setting and put their knowledge to practical use.
While it can be challenging enough to learn about effective meeting procedure—creating agendas, scripting meetings, and managing discussion to make the greatest use of everyone’s time—it is quite another to run a meeting as a presiding officer. Participation in a NAP unit allows you to participate as a member, committee member, elected officer, or parliamentarian—all in a learning environment where challenging situations can be analyzed, skills practiced, and learning reinforced.
Group learning involves members with a wide range of experience. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions of experienced parliamentarians, share your past challenges and successes, and help one another be effective members, facilitators, and parliamentary consultants.
