- What is the start date for eligible CEUs? Currently, September 1, 2023, for the current two-year cycle ending December 31, 2025.
- How do I know how many CEUs I have accumulated? You can find your CEUs in the Certifications folder when you log in to the NAP Portal. Select “View My Credit History.” For a detailed view, click on “Download Transcript”. Organizations have 30 days after the event to submit their attendance record to the Commission, who then will review and approve, so your CEUs will not appear immediately following the event.
- If I am a PRP using the legacy module system, how do I track my CEUs? Every PRC module is worth 2 CEUs.
- Do I have to submit my own CEUs? No, in fact, you cannot submit your own. The sponsor of the workshop or seminar where you receive the CEUs will verify your attendance and submit them. It is recommended that you keep your own record of trainings you have attended to ensure against any accidental oversights.
- Does my credential expire every two years now? No. As long as you are a member in good standing (you have paid your dues) and you complete your required CEUs, you will keep your credential eligible.
- What happens if I don’t have enough CEUs by the end of the renewal period? If you are a PRP and the required CEUs are not obtained in the two-year period, the credential will be downgraded at the end of the credential period to RP. If you are an RP and the required CEUs are not obtained in the two-year period, the credential will be downgraded at the end of your current credential period to non-credentialed member status.
- My credential expires in 2024 but the renewal period ends in 2025. Do I have to get CEUs for both years? No. You must have the required CEUs completed by the expiration date of your credential, but you will then have satisfied the requirement for the remainder of the renewal period. Moving forward you will only need to complete your required CEUs for each two-year cycle, always ending in the odd year.
- Do I really need my camera on for virtual trainings? Cameras must be on, and the participant must be in the frame for at least 95 percent of the session to earn CEUs. (Breaks to use the bathroom, etc., are allowed.)
Districts, Associations, and Units
- How many credits does a workshop get? What about the instructor? The totals for workshops will be assigned based on the number of qualifying educational hours. The instructors can expect to receive three-times the credit the attendees receive for the presentation, however, this will only be awarded once per topic per two-year cycle.
- How are credits for the instructor reported? The CEUs for the instructor will be submitted by the organization along with those of the members that attended the workshop.
- How soon must an application for CEUs be submitted? Organizations must submit their application to the Commission at least 30 days prior to the date they wish to hold the event.
- How is attendance tracked? For virtual meetings, the sponsoring organization must develop a method by which they can assess attendance. A report must be captured after the Zoom session, and participants must be in the room for 95 percent of the time. For in-person attendance verification, a record verifying attendance must be obtained. Suggested methods include a sign-in sheet, swipe (a device), or QR code.
- When must organizations submit the list of participants from the CEU event? Event attendance must be submitted to the Commission on the required Excel file (download here) no later than 30 days after the event.
